Indicator problems

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Skoda Octavia MK1 there is a ticking sound which I know is a common fault and is usually cured by changing the Relay switch in the middle of the dash, as its used as a taxi I have already replaced this a few years ago and the problem disappeared.

I bought another one today and put it in and the problem was still there however, not as loud or as frequent so I had a look on some forums and so advice was to spray the indicator stalk with WD40 and the problem should go. I have done this and it is now smoking when i turn the engine on and the right indicator is permanantly on.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem should I of used WD or will this be a different problem entirely if so what costs am I looking at.

Any advice very grateful

Thanks

i would of thought that the wd will be shorting all the wiring in the column, i had an erratic ticking on my octy when i bought it, traced it back to the convenience module( behind the dash just behind headlight switch) checked the wring in the doors following advice from others on here and found a broken wire in one of the rear door looms since i fixed the wire i've had no problems
