ABS warning light

Featured Replies

Driving my Octavia 4x4 over 25 miles of snow covered roads, the ABS warning light illuminated accompanied by a short burst of an alarm tone at the height of a blizzard

ABS operation seems OK. Switched off ESP for the final 60 snow covered miles. Brake operation normal.

What can I expect from a dealer computer read out check ?

Faulty ABS sensor ?

Faulty ABS ECU ?

The end of Octavia's running life due to high replacement costs ?

No idea about skoda specicially, but i had an audi quattro. On this, the esp off light was the abs light, and the light also indicated the esp being activated. It wasn't something like that was it?

Also, i did have a problem similar to this, where the abs light would come on occasionally and would be reset if the engine was re-started. Turn out to be the "latteral yaw sensor" on the esp (or something like that).

Reply - Earlier in the snow covered journey the ESP light was active especially at a junction with black ice (braking into and accelerating out of). The ABS light has never lit up at any time in the past 52,500 miles. The ABS light came back on after restarting the engine and remained on until journey's end. Perhaps I should try an engine restart after 2 days stationary. Booked a check with the Skoda Dealer this Friday but hoping to avoid a ABS ECU replacement which was posted in an a previous thread as costing

Friday 25 February and the Dealer found no faulty code. One pad wear indicator wire was "earthed" to the car framework. Five minutes on the ramp, no charge and all alarms off

More likely to have been ABS sensor wire earthed - Pad warning would bring a different warning up.

But glad its all sorted for you
