I've got a dead Rockford Fosgate P2D212 Punch 12" Subwoofer

The speaker has been sitting in the sub enclosure for over a year, but has never actually been wired up.

Its twin has been doing all the work due to a damaged amp. Anyhow, now the amp is back and everything all setup, but the speaker is dead as a dodo

Recon the damage is more like due to brocken connection somewhere, rather than a damaged speaker cone, etc.

Is there a UK dealer/importer for Rockford , or a **** hot repair outfit someone can suggest ?

The official Rockford site does not recognise the existence of England or the U.K. and so no English dealers are listed. You are on your own, sadly. A fact I will remember when I need new amplifiers!

Or it could be that you've cooked the voice coil of the sub when the amp went faulty.

Does the sub have a 'burnt' smell to it? (its a destinct smell and cant be missed).

Try pushing gently in the center of the cone, see if there is any scrapping noises (becareful doing this though as its not the nicest thing you can do to a speaker.)

If it is either of these then im affraid its dead. A recone would probably cost more than a new sub, thats if a kit is avaliable.

Have a look at the tinsle leads (go from the connection, through the woven material and into the cone) see if there is a break or damage there

That's basically where the break was (fixed earlier today). The speaker has two sets of terminal posts ( one each coil ), and it was one of these that had broken.

The speaker has not been powered up or even wired up since it was bought in 2009, so it must have come like it.

Rockford Fosgate do list a UK agent, who doesn't seem to want to speak to anyone.

You can get to the info I posted via clicking on the support link, from there, there's a section of red, with a link for international dealers, select UK from the list
