maf sensor

Featured Replies

hi all, i could do with some help with my octavia vrs.

i plugged it into a code reader and got the code p0171 which i found might be the mass airflow sensor. I took the sensor off and took it for a drive and it drove perfectly, but then the abs light came on and is constantly on now. so i need a new maf sensor but is there any way to get the abs light to go off. pressing the asr button doesn't switch it off. so any info would be great.

many thanks

jack

Jack does the code reader you got there not clear fault codes?! If not I am sure someone on here will have VAG-COM and will be able to clear.... if it keeps coming back then maybe an issue with an ABS sensor!

hi mike, sorry i should of said before. i reset the engine man light when i read the code. it drove like crap, was like jumping n couldnt make up its mind of what it wanted to do. so i unplugged the maf sensor n drove it and it was perfect but the abs light is always on now. the code reader wont reset the abs light will it?

many thanks

jack

Are you sure it's not the traction control / ASR light? They might even be the same light, I can't remember. Anyway, it will come on if there is a MAF fault, so it sounds like you have a bad MAF sensor.

sorry yer its the ASR light. its just constantly on. even when i plug the maf sensor back in. it only came on when i took the maf sensor out so i ain't to sure.

There will be a new fault code stored saying MAF open circuit. You need to get your new MAF put on, then clear any fault codes with the diagnostic, and it should go off.

However, the ABS ECU sometimes has a fault because the engine ecu has a fault, and you may need to clear that too.
