got the oil from halfords yesterday.

to be honest my merc previous was digital and would tell you but i think in total i can only ever remember topping up oil in that once in 2 and a half years. anyway all done no damage done.

Dealers will top up fluids, I think for the first 3 months. My Mazda6 I had from new, I had to top it up almost weekly for the first 6 months. Then after the first year it stopped needing them. Its to do with the engine bedding in, that's why its a bad idea to change the oil early in the first year or two cos it prevents or hampers the process.

Let the dealer top it up, then they will have it on record if there is a a problem, I would drive it "well" it make sure the engine is well worked. That means a red line once in a while.

BTW, my Tsi never needed a top up so far but I do about 4k a year and its a DSG.
