Octavia Delivery

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just picked up my new Octavia Elegance yesterday morning, after only a 6 week wait from order, (Heated Seats etc factory ordered) very pleased with it. But while going over everything I noticed that the Daylight Running Ligts were not on, went through the manual found out how to do switch them on and off, but no joy.

Came onto the forum yesterday afternoon to find out they had to be enabled by the dealer with the computer. Went to dealer this morning, he put the lights on in a couple of minutes, no problem at all.

What I'm annoyed at is why they're not enabled when you pick up the car, as I thought it was compulsory for new cars to have daytime running lights from the EU. Anyway I like them as a safety feature.

If I remember correctly, the date at which they are compulsory was changed to next year from the original proposal of March this year...

You're not quite right on the requirement for DRL's.

DRL's are a requirement on "totally new cars", not those already with Type approval.

So the FL Octavia received type approval in 2009 - so for as long as this car is manufacturered there is no requirement for DRL's at all, ever, during it's production run.

Skoda have decided to fit them - but they were not a requirement.

The same is the case for the Superb 2 for example - type approval granted before the requirement for DRL's.

It's any totally new vehicle that MUST have DRL's.

I new about the March date for this year, but I hadn't realised that it had been put back again.

Thanks for the update.
