a 250ml bottle? a 500ml bottle? or a 1l bottle

drain out the old stuff see how much is there then pour in the same amount of new stuff ;)

and yes 5.1

it will last the longest and be least likely to boil under hard use and leave you with a soft pedal

I disagree on using 5.1. It's most likely to absorb water and will need changing more often.

I'd go for Super DOT4 myself, something like Tarox RoadRace or Motul RBF600. A litre should be enough for a complete change.

Super DOT4 has very similar wet and dry boiling temps compared with 5.1, but is better able to avoid water absorption.

Skoda recommend DOT 4 brake fluid.

I use any brand and about £5.00 for 1 litre variable on brand or non-brand.

Replace fluid into brake master cylinder as and when each caliper is bled.

Fluid should look new from bleed nipple, before tightening up.

I found I used very little brake fluid as my mileage is low per annum and system is bled regular every two years.

Wouldn't recommend trying this as you may run the ABS unit dry and it needs bleeding with VCDS.

Official Skoda service manual says....

Syphon off what's in the brake fluid reservoir, fill with new stuff. Drain off 0.1 litres from clutch slave cylinder, and 0.2 litres from each 4 bleed nipples. I'd therefore suggest 2 litres would be more than enough.

Intriguingly the Skoda service manual says to use some sort of pedal depressor. I was thinking of using a Gunson Eezibleed myself, hmm.
