Coolant light

Featured Replies

Bit of an odd one this. When I turn my key to the second stage to start up my Furby vrs, as on every other car all the warning lights on the dash light up, as a means of checking that they all work. Recently the coolant temperature warning light was flickering at this stage, and once the car was started it disappeared, as do all the other warning lights. The car was getting up to temperature fine and not overheating so there wasn't much to worry about apart from the flickering. Tonight however the coolant light is completely absent at all times. Even when all the other lights come on prior to starting the engine the coolant light doesn't show. Could it be a simple case of needing a new bulb or something else at work? It's also worth mentioning I have checked my coolant level and it is absolutely fine, and hasn't used any since owning the car.

Likely to be the LED on the instrument cluster, if it was flickering during ignition on test. Dealer will say new cluster, but there are companies who will repair the existing instrument panel. Check wiring to coolant bottle first, and remove plug at bottle to check for corrosion on the pins of plug and socket. Coolant tank is only £15 so worth replacing first, as it contains the level sensor.

I would also scan the car for any fault codes.
