Saloon / estate qs

Featured Replies

Looking at coming back to Furby ownership with a Mk1 saloon or estate, but have some qs about engine options.

Wondering with the saloons if they only came with the 1.4 16v and the dog awful SDI engine as per my current Polo?

Also with the estates, Ive found loads of the 1.4 8v versions and a few of the 1.2 12Vs and was wondering what was better?

And whats a decent trim level - not bothered about top of the range, just dont want a bottom of the range one (again like the Polo!!!)

I wish they did a hot saloon but they erm... don't. Small petrols of SDIs only by the look of it.

You can get a 1.9 TDI estate.

As for trim range, pretty much Classic->Ambiente->Elegance

Out of the choices, personally, I'd try for an Ambiente or better estatae with the 1.9TDI.

I can only find 1.4 estates near me. Just missed out on a red 2.0 elegance which annoyed me - my fave colour.

I love mine 1.4 16v estate comfort had a 1.4 8v classic hatchback before but barely enough pull to get itself up hills the 16v don't struggle with anything though :)

Hope this helps :)

a lot mate yeah! my Polo has the 68bhp SDi engine and its god awful so trying to avoid the SDi models of possible as they have less power than the Polo but a small margin.

Found one Saloon listed as being a 1.4 16v but the description says its a 1.4 MPi so as confused as hell about what engine it has. Also can`t find the saloon listed as having had the MPi engine - only the 1.4 16v and SDi in manual and the 1.4 8v for the auto.

i don't think they had a 1.4 mpi in the saloon.

i know they made a 1.4 16v 100bhp manual, 1.4 16v 74bhp auto and a 1.9sdi for the saloon

1.4mpi vs 1.2 12v, i'd go for the 1.2 htp. I had one.

Well my choices are a 2002 1.4 (I`m assuming its a 16v) saloon or estate or... a 1999 Golf V5 estate.

Not sure as I`d like to get another Furby but I`d like the extra grunt and the noise of the V5.

Probably end up with an estate as need something that can comfortably carry a dog and not sure a saloon would be suitable (although its only a small dog so might be?)
