Mpg on Stage 3

Featured Replies

I took the missus out to Harrogate today, obviously I wasn't driving like a maniac but wasn't driving slow either. I just thought I would take a few snaps of my mpg running Stage 3 map.

Not too bad.

On a side note does anyone know if a speed camera van can get you as you are driving away from it on a single carridgeway? As the camera was facing into on coming traffic and I drove by in the opposite direction.

I hope not cause I may have been going slightly too fast with exactly the same situation the other day.

Impressive MPG B)

On the downside, that exactly how I got done for speeding, there was a break in traffic when I went past and the camera was diverted to my lane

Unfortunately you can. the readout would give a negative reading of the speed you were doing, and is submissable as evidence. Thats assuming the operator was set up and had clear sight of you.

Fingers crossed.

I wasn't going too fast, my speedo said around 46 in a 40 zone. It was a big long straight way outta town with no houses around, god knows why it's a 40 zone.

Is it true they have to let you know within 2 weeks?

I imagine you would be ok at 46. They have to leave a little room for errors. And yes, you must have the NOIP (notice of intended prosecution) within 14 days.

yep. you must get the Notice of Intended prosecution within 14 days otherwise can be thrown out on a technicality. Believe me, many a time have I been watching the post for 14 days sweating :giggle:

Anyway should be OK at 46, usual tolerance they allow is 10% + 2 over limit, and speedo's usually read 5% high. That should just about put you the right side

And if it comes later than 14 days?

Oh just answered whilst I was writing

See above, got beaten to it! slow typer on phone!

Any news on your map Nicky?

Impressive MPG's by the way

I'm stage 1 Shark on the TSI and only get similar mpg's on a very measured run.

Trouble is its all a bit new and I'm finding it difficult to not to play too much. 30 seems to be where i'm at mostly, although 80% is town driving at the moment, so cant complain

I get constant reminders from the missus not to play

Hopefully I should be ok but I do worry lol, it's the not knowing.

Great figures those, but how accurate is the non-maxidot computer? I only have stage 1 but rarely see figures like that! :(

I also have the non-maxidot.

I would imagine it's as accurate as Maxidot as they should use the same sensors etc to calculate?

Typically mine is about 1 or at max 2 mpg out over a self calculated tank. I would never have seen mpg like this with stage 2, stage 1 maybe. If you keep off boost you're laughing but if you boot it even a little mpg drops big style!

Motorways are great, I can average 38-39mpg sat at 70-80mph. I love this map :)

Thats madness considering you have a HPFP, vRS Carl was running stage 2 + and mpg was pants iirc!

Really? I remember a while back with his blue one he got 600 miles on a tank stage 2+ iirc.

I'll search for the thread later.

Best ive achieved at stage 3 was 37mpg, more often than not sub 30mpg though lol

The tank capcity is 55 ltrs (iirc) which is approx' 12.1 gallons, to get 600 from a tank he would be averaging 49/50 mpg! :o

65 litres to the brim

65 litres to the brim

That still equates to 42ish mpg! But using that figure I am averaging sub 25mpg.... :S

EDIT: The brochure quotes 60 ltrs for the 4x4, 55 ltrs for every other variation.

Don't really care what the brochure says it has, I regularly filled up with 65 litres of fuel without the trip computer even reading zero miles. The brochure prob doesn't take into acount pipe work etc

10 litres lost in pipework..... :o

iirc 52 litres is the max I've squeezed in mine with the fuel light on, either way my fuel consumption is kak!

When driving to and fro uk/germany I regularly was around 550 miles to a tank, with aa full czd of people and baggage.

Hmmmmm! perhaps the tax free cars get a bigger fuel tank! :giggle:

I will have to do a serious test next time I fill up.

That was when running bluefin. Never tried it with shark map as I was back in uk then
