I don't know why I put all this on the forum. It seems the forum is full of Skoda apologists.

Just realists.

Head to any owners site and you will no doubt find similar tales to your own. Try the ford owners site as an example.

I had a similar cost to you at 4 year service and MOT on our April 07 Octavia earlier this year. Had service, MOT & cambelt done £600, then a few weeks later the EGR valve went faulty which was an additional £380.

I've had the car since new, and although not happy at spending more than you have, fully accept parts fail and wear & tear.

Now the works Mondeo, now there's a load of fun. Even parts when the car was under warranty Ford refused to honour. Such as a worn rear bush ford accepted failed, and caused severe wear to the rear tyre. They replaced the trailing arm which was damaged as a result, but not the tyre nor the bush which caused the damage. My company had to pay for that!!!!

Personally I'd take Skoda every time over Ford, or even Renault (another firm I've had warranty issues with).

Get a grip.

Rubber perishes, as gadgetman said, could have happened on any car. Suspension parts etc are all made by a few manufacturers for many makes of car so chances are the particular bushes you have found could be found on many cars.

As i said before (even though you haven't answered the question i asked), you didn't have to have it done at a main dealer. You could have had it done at a decent Indy for probably a third of the price.

Good luck with your new car and hope to see you in 4 years when you give us a sit rep on whatever other car you have bought which you WILL have had to have some sort of repairs done (especially if it is French  )
