evo x

Featured Replies

Went to look at an evo x today, 52000 miles, fdsh, 1 owner and just out of

warranty.Any one owned one of these and know of any common faults or have

any advise.

Simonsheil has owned one and by god it was fast. Might be worth sending him a pm.

I had a 300 SST for about 21 months.

As far as I am aware there was no major common problems, there have been a few recalls, however with a full dsh these should have been seen to.

Running costs, driven lightly you would be lucky to get 30 mpg, driven hard 16 or lower on super unleaded. Tyres right round every 10000-20000 depending on driving (particuarly cornering). Tax is £400+ a year. Servicing is not too bad at 10000 miles, however be warned I believe the 60000 mile service is the most expensive (possibly £600+), also at that mileage you are no doubt getting close to discs which are not cheap.

On the road the interior is basic although well put together with great front seats, sat nav is good if installed, there is a bit of road noise although not too bad.

In terms of drive it is fairly fast off the line (in manual form at least), however not as fast as may be expected but it is by far the heaviest evo.

That said if you drive it, it is a very quick car you carry insane speed through corners and it shrugs it off, many reckon it is the best handling factory evo. Steering is precise and provides good feel while the 4wd & diffs do their stuff and is you leave the computers on they will do a good job of getting you out of trouble (especially in the wet).

Thanks for the info, exactly what i was looking for.First time i've really had a good look at the evo and thought the interior was much better than impretza although not as good as octavia but still very spacious.Servicing costs worried me and as you say with the 60000 coming up it could be costly. The other point being do i want a car just out of warranty or go for another octavia which i am more than happy with and has nearly 3 yrs warranty.

Might have another look at it this weekend. Thank for your help

if its just out of warrenty and it has the twin clutch semi-auto, I'd consider an extra warrenty, think they are about £7k to replace?

edit: and yes simons car, though not the fastest in a straight line was probably the quickest car in the corners I've ever experianced!
