Octy I vRS to Octy II vRS

Featured Replies

Fear Not, its not ANOTHER question asking about the new vRS.

How long are they going to continue to sell the old shape vRS? is there a definate date when they will stop selling?

im surprised they havent released a special edition Octy I vRS. im sure if Skoda put 210bhp or even 225bhp 1.8T in the existing car with say 18in Alloys, WRC rear spoiler and bumper, few extras as standard maybe a new colour available the car would sell really well

just a thought :D

Instead they just dropped the price of the old car through the floor ... same net effect I'm sure.

did the standard spec suffer when they dropped the price then??

Skoda only care about making profit, there not a performance motivated like subaru or mitsi.

Id be suprised if there was a vrs 2.

its a shame really that they dont capitalise on the vRS brand and do more limited editions like Subaru do... i.e. a Fabia or Octavia vRS WRC to comemorate the rally in say spain or africa or somewhere with a decent name that would sound nice.

The WRC Wales Rally or something perhaps.....

i'll get my coat...

D'oh. I don't know quite why I typed the word "spec", when clearly I meant "price". No, the spec didn't change, AFAIK.

Made my mouth water just reading that, in a way i hope they dont because then i would have to go and buy one :D

So why do you think Subaru and Mitsubishi make cars?

yeah i know what you mean Chris, my name would be down on one seriously fast :D

Subaru and mitsi are commited to motorsport. They are motorport orientated. Skoda are not.

Nigel is spot on. Why dont Skoda capitalise on the vrs brand. An approved performance package that is warranty friendly for example. This has been discussed before on here and emails have been sent to Skoda UK. There response however was less enthusiastic. It makes business sense to capitalise on the brand. But I suppose this is for another thread.

And were Subaru or Mitsubishi "performance motivated" before they started enjoying sucess in the WRC ? ...not really.

Skoda need funds from VAG HQ to ramp up the WRC programme, then they might take a greater interest in the performance car sector.

Until then, they'll stick with their core customer base, which consists mostly of people wanting family type cars.

Just because a minority want something from a manufacturer, it doesn't mean they have to deliver it. Change brands if you're not happy with what's available.

Aftermarket mods are usually better value than factory stuff anyway.

Car makers use motorsport to highlight them and boost sales, why do you think Volvo entered the British Touring Champs...?

Every company has to make profit..thats the bottom line.

Would Skoda sell as many cars if they only made the vRS? No chance what so-ever.

If truth be told, without the mundane family models the vRS wouldnt even get off the ground.

Subaru - the farmers favourite...

Mitsubishi - the only mfr thats more bankrupt than rover.....

skoda is at the bottom of the pile for performance cars!

audi will keep that to them selfs!!

This thread seems to be pointing to something just like the Fabia RS WRC which has been built and is testing in the Czech Republic. Whether it get's made or not is a different matter and it will only be a special edition of 1500.

When I see the fabia rs wrc i will believe it.

anyway, back on topic;) does anyone know when the current vRS octy will be withdrawn from sale?

havent got a clue Kenny...lol :D

When I decided to get the performance fabia (1.2) the dealer said to come back in september/october with regard to new octy vRS, suppose only stocks of old model will be available then unless the estate continues 'till new estate out in 18 months?
