Felicia Spares

Featured Replies

Just bought a 1999 Felicia (1.3). Apparently Speedo cable is kaput. Obviously need to check but assuming true what's the best source...am I limited to the Skoda dealers?

Jorily list a speedo cable for the Favorit, is this the same as the 1289 Felicia? (I have it in the back of my mind that that the 1.3 is the same basic engine as the Favorit, is this correct?)

Any advice on replacing...?

Doubt it will fit as the Felicia has a completely different set of clocks.

all the right hand drive models use the same speedo cable.. just make sure you don't drop the drivegear in the top of the gearbpx when you pull it out

My tip to do as Tom suggested is to leave the drive cable attached and remove the little bolt and the metal retaining plate then yank the whole thing out with the drive cable.. that way even if it does fall down in the gearbox, you can fish it out easy :)

tbh if you are only changing the cable there's no need to remove the drivegear or the retaining plate from the gearbox, the end of the speedo cable just unscrews

Thanks for the feedback...ordered one from Jorily. Might get onto it this weekend if it comes in time.

Going to change the oil, filters and sparks anyway as the car came with no service history, but runs very sweetly.

It seems a bit lacking in top end power on the motorway, is 5th gear really high compared to 4th? Do you normally need to drop to 4th on inclines to maintain (modest) speeds?

Difficult to judge if there's a problem with no speedo!
