Fabia SE Estate - Uncomfortable seats

Featured Replies

My dealer says it is only me, but I find that the seats in the SE are really uncomfortable, particularly on a long(ish) run. I recently did a 300 mile round trip and by the end could not wait to get out of it, and got a backache into the bargain.

How do others find them?

I have read in the forum that others have changed their front seats for VRS or VW Polo seats, and in at least one case, Audi TT seats. Is this mod done for the look, or because they are better seats to drive in?

I inspected the standard seats and it looks to me that they do not have the same build quality as the rest of the car, or I am being over critical?

I have not had this problem on previous cars I have owned. The Fabia seats seem to give too much support at the front edge and insufficient at the rear. The lumbar support seems also to be inadequate.

Any advice would be gratefully received on either changing the seats, or modifying the existing ones.

I have a MK1 vRS Fabia and they are the most comfortable seats in the world! I recently drove from Tunbridge Wells to Yorkshire and got out the other end refreshed and had no issues with aches or anything - would highly reccommend these if you change them!

I know this might not be what you want to hear but it may just be you. I have a mate who insisted that the seats in the Citroen Xantia were very uncomfortable, but he's an exception in that respect. Similarly, I find the front seats in the Octy1 more confortable than those in the Octy2.

Thanks VRSRS, do you know if the MKI seats fit straight into the MKII?

The test drive I had was in a 'Monte Carlo'. The seats in that model seemed fine.

The seats of my wifes Roomster Scout, which are the same as the original (not sport) seats, also had pretty weak lumbar support.

As I changed the upholstery myself, I also filled up the room (between spring and foam of the seat back) with a rectangular piece of foam I still had lying around.

This made exactely the lumbar support I missed so much. Since then the seats are actually very comfy and dont produce the back ache any more.

It is a bit fiddely, but you could do it yourself. (no need to remove the entire upholstery of the seat back.)

The seats of the MonteCarlo are the (optional and very good) sport seats.

Seats from a MK1 will fit a MK2, and vice versus - ie a MK2 will fit a MK1. Go hunting :)

I am finding the standard seats comfortable, but they do lack side support. They could be made better in that area without becoming a sport seat. I much prefer the Monte Carlo/vRS seats.

I had a look on Ebay, but VRS/ sports seats seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Sounds like it is the one to go for though!

I agree, the seats lack support, both side and lumbar. I wouldn't go quite as far as to say uncomfortable but they are desperate for some bolstering. Er' indoors has the base model fabia and, i think, due to the fabric being stiffer it makes for a slightly more supportive seat. I too am considering a seat upgrade as I plan on keeping the car for a few years.

Thanks Fatbloke, Good to hear that I am not the only one. I was beginning to wonder. My 'er indoors' also reckons the same.
