vrs Front brake disc dimensions

Featured Replies

Hi guys, changing front discs are these the correct dimensions

vrs 1.8t

Vented - Mountings 5

Disc diameter 312.0mm

Disk thickness 25.0mm

Overall height 49.7mm

Centre diameter 65.0mm

Minimum thickness 22.0mm

Also i can have just plain dics or grooved, drilled, dimpled etc for no extra charge, is it worth doing or keep standard discs?

thanks in advance

Damien

Damien,

They look right to me, if I remember correctly. I know they are 312x25 for sure.

As for the grooved/drilled etc - to have the properly done and heat treated so they are less likley to fail they can be costly please see here:

They also offer F2000 discs, same price but just grooved!

Also some very good pads to suit!

Dont botherwith anything drilled or grooved, dont need them! cause vibration and dont do a geat deal

Stick with plain discs and if you want uprated pads, but stay away from EBC!!!!

Then you cant go far wrong

I use Pagid stuff from eurocar parts on both the standdard 312mm set up and the porsche brakes i have now and they are really really good

Pagid from Euro is a cheaper compound than Pagid supplies OE, we get more comebacks with squeel and the bite isn't as good. The stock 312 with genuine (discs are fully anti-corrosion coated) discs/pads takes some beating, if you want an almost over sharp pedal going to DS2500/GreenStuff or similar pads will up the friction but inrease either squeel or brake dust. OE cost a few quid and were really the premium in terms of reaching the best balance between braking, dust, cold response and squeal.
