Is anyone running stage 2 on the 2.0TSI? If so can you please tell me how much it cost, what exactly you got done, what bhp and tq you now have and how it feels compared to stage 1. I want to go stage 2 in a few months so am trying to figure whether it's worth it.

Maybe I should just get an LSD instead.

As you can see from the link posted by Pagey, I have been running Revo stage 2 since yesterday. This morning I had the chance to go for a real good 'B' road blast. The car really goes now, feels quite a bit different to stage 1. Huge power and holds it longer, also feels much smoother and more linear. No clutch issues today, felt nice and strong, but not sure how long it will last. From the passenger seat its now bordering on on feeling a little scary!

With regards price, its not cheap. The downpipe, fitting and remap cost £815. A good intake which is essential (ITG or Evoms considered the best I think), will set you back £2-300. I was lucky and have a free bespoke carbon intake by Andy at ITG that certainly does the trick. However, the car is so quick now that i'm really glad I have upgraded the suspension/handling and brakes. I wouldn't want stage 2 with the standard components, that could be really bad news!

Intake

Suspension

Brakes.

Well, technically you only need the downpipe and intake. I got the resonated cat back for the little extra sound and the looks, it is not required for stage 2 though. The suspension and brake mods are again not required, but if you like to drive spiritedly, I would highly recommend them. Sort the handling before you up the power.

I'm a power junkie so really want to go straight to stage 2. However I think you are offering sound advie re brakes and suspension.

Yeah I know where you are coming from and if stage 2 had been available earlier, I would probably have done the same. However, I let a good mate drive it today. He is used to driving very fast and tracks Westies etc. He is one of the few who I would let drive my car. His exact words were 'Crikey, its so smooth, you have no idea how much speed you are piling on', as we hit triple fiqures. He then quickly commented 'My god, those brakes sure do bite hard', as we came around a bend into a built up 40 zone and he nearly threw me head first threw the windscreen. I think that demonstrates my point quite nicely!

:o for over 30% more power and torque that is as cheap as chips........

As Nobafett says for stage 2 you only need the intake and downpipe.

If you plan to go to stage 2 eventually I would save your pennies for the above and enjoy 280+bhp B) Wasting good money on the stage 1 remap would be pointless, imho of course.

I would watch this space though as I know vRS Carl has got some devious plan afoot involving the Assassin. :thumbup:

I know from a previous thread that Shark will upgrade from stage 1 to 2 for £100 so if you wanted to see how stage one felt and before buying the downpipe it might be worth considering, but im not going that route, it will be a downpipe and straight to stage 2 for me as got everything else on the list done already luckily. ARB's are worth adding to the list aswell if you ask me

I'm on stage 1 already from shark. Need to pop up to see him as have a flat spot when changing gear and get to the bottom of that then save money for handling then stage 2 mods. Insurance may be high though.

If the newer tsi is better for modding or stronger why is the new gold Ed 35 using the older engine? Or do I haven facts wrong?

The reason I ask is because the OEM intake on the TSI has been re-designed compared to the poor engine cover intake on the older TFSi (BWA) engine.

It was only poor in so much as it was a pain in the backside to access. Note sure the TSI intake / airbox actually provide any better air flow.

+1, the OEM intake is efficent but no way will it allow the air flow required for stage 2.

I only ask the intake question as the Evoms, Neuspeed and ITG induction kits for the TSI keep the OEM piping along the back of the engine ect and just replace the OEM airbox with a cone filter/enclosure. It would be interesting the see some MAF logs to show the difference.

Really? I thought it was completely new pipework from the turbo.......!

So technically you are paying £250+ for a few bits of plastic, a short pipe with a 90 degree bend in it and a filter. :o

Yep, that surprised me also.

When looking at intakes I was reading a thread on the Gti forum. They were testing the prototype of the ITG kit and had some airflow comparisons. The ITG intage was much more efficient and got lots more air into the system. Can't remember the exact figures but it equated to about 15bhp extra on a stage 1 car. I guess it's down to more surface area on the filter itself and the pipework that connects to the inlet is much less restrictive.

Is there a OEM metal heat shield underneath the intake pipe at the back of the engine on the TSI? If not does the ITG kit come with one?
