Air con problem

Featured Replies

My garage has recently replaced the compressor on my octavia 2.0 Tdi 2006 model and there appears to be another problem too.

Can anyone help me with the wiring diagram for this model please.

Thank you

A fault code scan would be a good start, also readings off diagnostics for compressor output and system pressures with the system running both high and low.

When the compressor was changed was the system flushed out?

what are the symptoms? why is there seeming to be another problem (is it still not blowing cold)??

No but he has since been instructed to do this, thanks

i think the fans are not working would this be correct?

This would be the same failure as I have recently had to fix. Replaced the compressor to find the small fan isnt working (and may have lead to the compressor overheating). A new 295mm fan costs about £100 from GSF or £152 from Skoda or VW.

Just lift the bonnet and see if both fans spin up with the air con on LO. Only the large one did with my Octavia (and kicked in on its fast speed to compensate for the other one not working).

I hope this helps.

The smaller fan is a slave unit being driven by the larger fan which has a controller built into the motor itself and the two are connected via LIN BUS link. Fan should cut in but if the pressure switch is recording a fault I think the fan wont work as the system is inactive.

If the compressor failed due to contamination or seizure and the system wasnt flushed it will need another new compressor and the system flushing before the compressor is fitted. The compressor should then be primed with the correct PAG oil etc.
