Yeti Sunroof

Featured Replies

At the Yeti launch I was attracted by the panoramic sunroof and it was certainly a buying point. By the time I was in a position to order the beast the sunroof had been removed as an option.

Now in 2011 it is back in being shown as an option but the indications were that delivery may not be within my lifetime. So a quick (well all day!) visit to Bristol Sunroof Centre and they fitted a Webasto

Hollandia 300 tilt and slide sunroof for just under £400. Downside is it is not very large but it lets in the sky.

Not seen anyone on here have one of those fitted before. Have only ever had an after market roof done once (a basic hinged jobbie in 1985) which was OK and didn't leak.

You must have asked a fair few questions before deciding to have it done. Like, will it leak? what warranty does it come with? do you have to declare it to your insurance as a modification? have they ever cut a hole two inches too big and filled it up with filler :) ?

It takes a brave man to stand and watch someone take a giant tin opener to your cherished £20k's worth of Yeti and then make a gaping hole in the headlining.......think I'd have to go walkies while they did it.

Was it mainly the letting in of extra light that made you fit it?

Re. the insurance question, taken to extreme the black vinyl on the B pillars looks good in the pics but is that classed as a mod.? Ditto the dark glass. Will you tell your insurer about theses changes? Where do you draw the line? [the last question is probably one that the sunroof fitter asks before making the first cut!]

Brave decision that. Looks good though from that pic?

Having had generations of Citroen 2cv's where all summer long the headroom is infinity the closed roof needed a bit of light and air. I was not planning to tell my insurers about any of the mods so far. as in five minutes they could disappear save for the sunroof.

I felt very confident about them cutting a hatch in the roof as they are doing it six days a week on cars often very much more expensive than the Yeti. Actually I went to the seaside whilst they did it as the curing of the sealant took the time.

Looks great, and the loss of headroom will be minimal given what's available.

I think it looks great. I'm in the same position - I was not best pleased to see the removal of the sunroof option.

Fountain good. No Free Miners anymore. Quality too variable. Nice pint of Butty Bach though. Have a lot of open mike nights and a big music festival last Saturday in August.

That's a shame, I liked the FreeMiners. Might have been up for that at the end of August but know I am working BH weekend.

A couple of us from work are hoping to come down one day for a trip on the Dean Forest Rlwy and possibly the narrow guage as well. (plus beer!!!)

You mean the old L&Y works? used to live less than 1km from there, used to trainspot(no anorak though) off the adjacent footbridge - my dad was a signalman at the bottom of pretty wood bank and later Broadfield by 35MU
