Miltek Exhaust fitted 3 months, leaking water from joint!

Featured Replies

Hi all

I had a Miltek cat-back fitted in March and I've noticed it's leaking condensation from the centre joint!

Milteks website say's this is normal immediatly after fitting but I'm not sure it should still be doing it after 3 months?

I also think it may be 'blowing' slightly from this joint.

Can anyone say that if it's laeaking condensation then it will definately be blowing as well?

I cant see how it can't be 'air tight' if it's not water tight!

Thanks for any advice

It might just need the joint undoing and retightening. Id contact the place that fitted it and get them to look at it.

Most engines produce condensation at start up.....also most joints in an exhaust system need bedding in......the solution is to go on a long 30ish mile drive on a back country road with a return journey down a main road (both 60mph)......this will let the exhaust get up to temp and properly cook it! B)

P.S. not all places use exhaust paste on the joints....if it is blowing the joint will go black from soot!

thanks guys... went back to the fitter today and it was sooty arounnd the joint where it meets the cat.

A quick swizzle and re-tightening of the clamp and its sorted..

Must say, the Miltek Resonanted system sounds great, seems a touch louder than the previous Miltek I had.

I'm wondering if they have tweeked it a bit sound wise to make more of a difference than the stock system.

Cheers.
