Yeah thanks Ad Lav. At least I know your not serious unlike some pleb.

Did you get to go to Santa or not? Sorry to hear you have an original fault that no one seems to have had before, never good them!

He didn't no, think he's trying to find the cause of this mysterious fault

Always the way, happens the day before you need it! My car has a 80 percent chance of going wrong after I fill it up with fuel, every time a car has gone seriously wrong on me, I would have just filled up with fuel.

Hopefully I'll let you all know tomorrow what's wrong. Today I drove ten miles 2 journies 5 miles each way and only have a airbag light and it started first time both times, engine light is back also...I've been missing it.

I would get it scanned. Usually I would say "ABS light = wheel speed sensor" - "PAS light = power steering angle sensor" but this seems totally "out there!" and without VCDS I wouldn't like to say what the hell is really wrong. Do you know if water could have got inside into a control module (relatively unlikely)

I don't really wash anywhere unusual except the door shuts. I doubt it's got wet.

i thinks its your dash pod ross, remember when you were at amd and your dash was going blank untill switched on and off then it would come back, thats an indicator of a failing dash pod, all these lights seem to be a bit suspect, my moneys on dash, but yes get it scanned somewhere, before plumping out for a new dash, there are places that repair them maybe look into that could be cheaper,

Been to my local garage and had them run vag-com and it came up a few intermittent faults that were cleared and now the cars all up and running.

Glad you got it sorted, hopefully many more happy days of ragging it

Been to my local garage and had them run vag-com and it came up a few intermittent faults that were cleared and now the cars all up and running.

Sorry about that, I was very busy. The mechanic says it reads intermittent fault in power steering communication

anti lock breaking communication

airbag comm...

traction controll...

and loads of other stuff. all intermittent and have been cleared.

I'd like to say thankyou to everybody who has made helpful suggestions and tried to help me out.

Just glad to have the car back to usual with no lights.

except the engine light

Many thanks, Ross

Glad it's running again, but isn't the underlying problem still there if all that's been done is a clearing of the fault codes? So you'll just be there again in a week/month/6 months etc time?

Maybe time to invest in VCDS then? :D

Yes im sure it'll appear again sometime.

It used to go crazy when i turned my hid's on. Everything flashing and beeping and sometimes show no clock/mpg/mpt/outside temp gauge thing.

I've bought a dud lol! Or hid's are the cause of all things bad. As are coilovers, I hate coilovers!

Whilst were off subject had anybody got a egr cooler radiator thing floating about? It's all that I need to get my EGR back in action. Beer money?

Have a read of this topic:

It may be relevant.

Thanks for that info, the VagCom reading shows very much the same as mine has done (No Communications - Intermittent)

Car is ****** again. All the lights have re-appeared again. May take a long trip to Unit 18 soon. FML!

you sure your battery is ok?

Not something simple like a loose connection to the ECU is it? Bumps (and jumps ;)) might cause it to come/go as it is.

Pretty unlikely, but always worth checking the simple, free fixes first!

At unit 18 hoping we come accross something here

Could it be a dodgy earthing point that has something to do with the dash and/or ecu?

We almost need a poll. No prise for the winner(s) but they can bask in the glory - LOL.
