There are a few spring clips like the above article says.

There's a real knack to doing it and it can be a real nightmare to get them all unclipped.

Needs a stubby flat screwdriver from the back to kind of push the prongs on the back of the airbag through the springs that holds them in. As above, a proper knack to doing it and once I took about 20 minutes on one..... Just couldn't figure it out.

Then you need an M12 spline drive to get the steering wheel itself off.
