Just been Miked

Featured Replies

Called into Mike Holroyds today on the way back up from the GP, first a much needed cupa he said he needed to tell his wife to leave the instructions to do this :giggle:

He connected up the vag com and checked a few things and found out that my air con needs re gassing.

then noted down everything on my old can gateway then swapped them then re installed everything

Then put the firmware disc in but it would not accept it so onto google found out clock on Columbus needs setting, once set it downloaded it, then he showed me all the new info on it, even 7 digit post codes, btw Mike when entering a post code put the 1st 3 digits in then hit space found that out when putting mine in

Pleased to see a clock on the unit and the speed for the road your traveling on its only about 2 metres out all the way home.

He also turned on the other rear fog light, and turned off the seat belt warning.

He let me take his car around the block, and he took mine around as well, both cars are totally different to drive even with the extra bit power, could be the gearing or the fact mine has done nearly 110,000 more miles???

Managed 624 miles that's driving down to Coventry then to the GP and back and around Coventry then to Mikes and filled up at Carlisle about 10 miles after the fuel light came on could only get 52.24 litres in that works out at 54.3 MPG doing 70 most of the time

Many thanks Mike for doing this for me B):thumbup:   just need speed cameras now :mmm:

Turning off the annoying warning, even your dealer can do this, does not stop the seat belts from working as they should

When your in and out of the car several times a day you soon want to get rid of the bong bong bong, especially when the car is used as a taxi, and its not compulsory for taxi drivers to wear one

Always good to read threads of Briskodians meeting up and getting Skoda stuff done :D

It's part of what this place is all about

Well done Mike emoticon-0148-yes.gif

+1

I can only echo that sentiment

Just remembered that my drivers mirror has an intermittent fault and doesn't demist, just seen Mikes thread on how to remove and repair

Also forgot to mention that after 3 years of ownership I have lights in the boot that I did not know I had but for some reason they don't work Mike suggested it could be a switch in the hatch mechanism, can anyone shed some more light on this excuse the pun lol

I'm in the same boat on the boot light Skippy. And would agree, I think it's the switch.

There were a few threads discussing bits about that, will see if I can bring them up again and I'll put some links here.

When I helped another forum member he wanted to give me something to say thanks so I said buy a couple of briskoda stickers B)

I paid up for Freedom membership as a result of Simbo helping me out, I think Skippy should do the same. ;)

Also Meta, the purpose of switching off the seat belt warning is not so we can all go hooning around without our seatbelts on! Sheesh.

It's just to stop the hugely patronising and nannying really fooking annoying "beep beep beep" as soon as you put the key in the ignition, or if you're pootling around a car park/camp site/whatever. It doesn't half grate after a while.

Excellent idea

Does Simbo still post these days?

Not nearly as much these days. Hasn't been online here either in 7 odd weeks....
