DGS Gearbox Problem

Featured Replies

Hi There

You've all probably seen lots of posts about DGS gearbox problems.

I've been having problems for over a year now the main problem is this:

when I slow down for a roundabout, but dont completly stop, and try to accelerate away the car lurches into 1st and revs very highly. I cant manually change the gear up, but after a few seconds the car realises that it needs to change and does so.

Also I had to preform an emergancy stop when someone pulled out in front of me, when I accelated away I had a similar problem as the above, but all the gear upto about 3rd were very aggressive, e.g. jumpy / jerky

The car has been in the garage 6 times now, i've had the gearbox Mechatronic unit replaced, the software on it re-flashed and had it reset but still I get the problem.

The problem the dealer is having is getting the car to play up when they have the diagnostic kit hooked up because the problem is intermitent.

After the last garage visit on 2nd June I loogged everyt event when this happened and Ihad about 10 in the end. When I asked the dealer to have a look again I mentioned my log and was told that it was pointless because they will only fix something if there is an error code. Which low and behold is not happening.

I've also noticed that the car can be slow to respond when I try to pull away from roundabouts when I havent stopped.

Has anyone else suffered with these problems, and if so have you been able to get it fixed.

I'm trying to get some ideas as to what could be the problem

Thanks in advance

Not much help but I had DSG with paddles in my a3 3.2 a year ago.

It was fine for the first few months and the dealer had replaced the mechatronic ecu at a cost of £2000+ I then noticed that the car when in stationary traffic wanted to continue forward and began lurching forwards and rocking both in drive and in park with foot brake on or off.

It proved very scary and the car never ran smooth always jerking. I took it into Audi and again they replaced the ecu but it still wasn't fixed so I got rid of the car these gear boxes are brilliant until they go wrong

Clutch Drag, there was an issue with 2009 cars, they should be replacing the clutch pack. its a known Skoda issue. It was an assembly issue I think, mine had it done.
