I like it. Bet it's a bitch to clean though.

Not a fan personally.

Doesn't stand out enough for me.

Matt black against yellow.. now that's a different story.

Actually, i can wipe of the dust etc off my wheels really easily, maybe its the matt material. (hence why im playing with vinyl, because im lazy) :D

I'm one noted for disliking most asethetic mods... but this is really special! i would keep it like that, it's subtle but bold, OEM but different!!

most tasteful bit of modding i've seen for a while on here

CONGRATS ON A GREAT JOB mate

So why do you have a Cayman and a Fabia??? the Cayman is so much more dynamic to drive. FACT

I have a sneaking suspicion that it's not actually the OP's, since the rest of the pic looks like somewhere in America.

Looks like crash damage IMO and a cheap repair!

If it were carbon (I still think it looks bad) at least it would be there for a reason, other than style.

 And the car is lhd and has no number plate or mounting point.

Maybe he has painted like that to stop reflection from the bonnet when driving, as per rally cars etc.

Maybe he's painted it like that because he likes the look of it? The same reason people buy aftermarket wheels, paint their chrome grills, get custom badges made or paint the engine cover etc.

As a designer, I'm really confused when people think aesthetics aren't a 'reason' for doing something?

Well I love it. There's nothing better than trying things and being different.

And going by what mort said as he's a designer, i'm an engraver and a model maker.

Must be an arty farty thing. ;)

meh, dont hate it, dont love it. Plus black on black like that am sure someone would have to point out that its matt and my reply would be "So its just got black primer on?? When you going to spray it??"

I'm afraid it does nothing for me. It's a no

I agree with Trigger's comments, it just looks like it's it's un-painted or very oxidised paintwork that is in need of a good polish. If the rest of the car was a different colour, (red or white) then it would look OK. If it was a Carbon Fibre Bonnet (or Carbon wrap) it might look quite nice, but not matt black on a back car.

Does it have a sticker on the back saying "My other car is a Skoda"?

Not keen on just one panel being done. It's like a cheap version of the fast & furious carbone fibre bonnet.

However, I saw a brand new BMW M3 the other day and it was finished entirely in matt black and it looked the business. Also looked like a very expensive paint job. vnice

It's not for me as I'm like a crow, I like shiny bright things, plus I spend so much time on my car to get it looking as shiny and clean as possible with matt I just looks dirty! To be fair though it's probably the best example of matt I've seen, there's a guy round where I live who looks like he's just painted it on with a brush.

Google Lamborgini Gallardo Nera.

They made a special edition with matt panels on it. Have seen one in the flesh at a friends garage and they look awesome.

Obviously somewhat different to a Skoda though.

Not sure would look so good on a Fabia. May look like it's been accident damaged as someone else mentions.

Everybody knows the sun doesnt shine in Surrey. Thats not his car.

BLoody awfull. My bro in law has a mat black bonnet on his black saxo, not intentional, its lost its shine in the sun And the paints cracked.just looks the same as the pic posted lol

Im back, unfortunately it isnt my car and no its never sunny in Surrey :giggle:.

I actually wanted to do this for functionality more than aesthetics to be really honest, the aesthetics could be an added bonus. The plan was to also go over the grill area so the whole bonnet looks 'one piece'.

Wacky alternative.. Fat strip down the middle? :S (inverse to the pic of the lambo)

Yes go faster stripe ftw I was looking at doing it my self but I'm going to try stickerbomb instead!

In my opinion a black car is all about getting as much depth and shine from polishing it as poss... nothing more satisfying than getting a nice reflection on the paintwork. I'd be bored with a matt car and not being able to polish it :D
