Offset too much?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at a set of wheels that are 8.5 wide an ET45.

The standard wheels are 6.5 wide and ET50, so the new wheels would stick out 30mm.

If i put 225/40 tyres on, would it really look too narrow?

More importantly, is 30mm getting a bit much?

I don't want rubbing and I don't want to be a stance/poke boy!

What suspension setup are you running?

Personally, I think the combo of 8.5J and 45 is a bit too much, not too much though. Oobster's new 19s are the same width and offset for example. By comparison I have 8J ET42 sat on Eibachs and reckon that's spot on. Others opinions may vary of course......

I also think you'll be OK on 225/40s with that width. You could consider 235/40 of course and they're available, maybe a bit more per tyre but not much. Can't speak for possible rubbing however, again that can depend on your suspension setup.

I have the Eibach Pro Kit (30mm) waiting to be fitted.

I saw his thread, just wasn't sure if the extra inch in diameter would make any difference too.

Do you know of anyone running 18x8.5 with an offset if roughly 45?

Do you mean the combo is too much stretch, or too much risk of rubbing?

You're set up is only 3mm narrower too!

I'd really need to see a photo of some 225's on the aforementioned wheels.

Don't think comparing his 19s is a problem. The effect of wheel width and offset is the same.

Can't think of anyone off the top of my head running that combo on 18s. The majority will be a 7.5 or 8J.

The difference of 3mm between yours and what I'm considering really is minimal. I assume an extra 3mm in yours could be catered for?

Any profile photos of your wheels Wardy?

Hope these help:
