Good luck with it!

Shame my insurance firm were being funny about it.

Keep looking for insurance, it's such a good car, even better now then when I had it and for the money you ain't gonna get better.

To quote Ali after the new engine went it

"it's mental quick now"

I tried, either quotes of £2.5k, or nothing at all. emoticon-0106-crying.gif Being young doesn't really help I guess.

In the build thread Alex was saying he had the same issues with his at the time.

You tried the usual suspects for insurance, as well as the specialist brokers?

If you can get 'reasonable' RX insurance, then I'm sure you can get sorted on this.

The insurers (well the specialist ones) love the "built not bought" motors. This is why the mongrel is so cheap for me to insure, declared 300bhp even though I've not reached that target yet. I imagine the above policy will look down on new owners of something quite specialist as more of a risk.

I did (or I think I did, can't remember now).

RX-8 is oddly cheap. I can insure a derv powered Volvo estate for more than I pay on the Mazda, can a derv C4 for only a small %age less. Think it's the age (20), occupation (uni student) and mods that seem to count against me.

It all seems fine till I say it's had an engine swap, then it's a no go. Something that seems to cause problems on the Polo forums too when people swap old mk II/III's to the 1.4 16v units.

(Free bump too!)
