Fabia ignition coil issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

I drive a 53 Skoda Fabia Blueline 1.2 petrol. On Tuesday morning it took a couple of attempts tp start but then ran ok for the 40 mile drive to work. Tuesday night I couldn't get in started, the engine was turning over but it wasn't firing. I left it at work Tuesday night and Wednesday moring started fine. Wednesday lunchtime it wouldn't start again, same problem. Managed to bump start it and get it to the garage, it was sluggish most of the way, the engine management warning light had come on and it was shaking badly whilst idling.

Picked it up from the garage today. Aparently the coil pack on cylinder 3 had melted and the garage replaced it along with a couple of lead shields (?). No problem. Set off home and after around 30 miles the engine management warning light starting flashing intermittently, going off, coming on constant, going off again and so on and so forth. There was some noticable shaking again whilst idling.

I managed to get it home but will have to deal with it in the morning. Is it likely to be the coil pack that was replaced or could it be one of the others? Is there anything else that it could be that the garage overlooked? It's a bit of a dilema because I'd rather take it back to the garage near where I work so I don't end up having to pay twice over, but my nerves really aren't up to a 40 mile journey in a shaking car with flasking warning lights. Any point calling out the AA?

I really am terrible when it comes to cars :S (which is why I opted for a reliable skoda!!). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks,

Clara

Take it back to the garage who fixed it, if it breaks down on the way call the AA and have them tow it the rest of the way there.

Get over your nerves and just do it.

Your dilemma is solved.

Carry on.

See if anyone local has VCDS diagnostics and if they will have a look for you.
