Does anyone use a Brodit phone holders?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying one of the Brodit phone holders that clips onto the air vent. Just wondering if anyone uses one in their Octavia, and whether it works OK, or if there is anything better out there?

Matt

I have the one that fastens to the centre console

Very good indeed..I wouldnt want a vent one restricting the air TBH

I thought about one of those, but thought it needed a chunkier grill vent to clip to

I have one in my Mk2, very well made bit of kit, though obv not cheap. Phone fits very snugly in it so if you have a case/skin you have to remove it to put the phone in.

There should be a variety of mounts available to fit in different places around the car if you didn't want to put it on the vents.

I have brodit mounts and cradles in both the fabia and Roomster. Really very good bits of kit.

I have one and I have it half over the vent and half over the switch for the hazards, doesn't really interfere with the air flow. I'll try and take a quick picture later.

Thanks for the replies. I'd be interested to see a picture of yours as to how much it blocks the vents. I think that's the best position for it to be in for ease of sight to the screen.

Here are a couple of pics, one showing the view from the drivers seat and the second is more straight on showing how it covers the vent.

The main reason for where it is is mainly due to fitting the screen for the parrot in next to it.

Bluetooth head unit kit, chuck the phone in the popout draw. Sorted.

If you have an iPhone? I use a "griffin window seat" (eBay) very good

I use my phone as my sat nav too, so I use a Brodit active holder so my phone is charged in the car. Though I need to get a new holder for my new phone.

Thanks - the pictures help to make it clearer. I'm looking for something along the lines of the Brodit as I occasionally use my phone for the Sat Nav too. I'll keep an eye out for one of the brackets I think :-)

I've got a Dashmount bracket and Brodit holder for my TomTom;

Have a look here for the clip and the relevant holder. I have the hard wired holder as the position of the fag lighter in the Octy is not very uesful.

Looking at the range of holders, there is no "adjustable" or "generic" one - I guess this is actually part of the appeal that the holders fit snugly to the device. However, I think I should be able to get away with attaching one of those adjustable eBay specials onto the bracket. Seems a bit much to pay £15 for a bit of plastic, but they seem the best option.

Don't suppose anyone is selling one of the clips second hand? ;-)

The clips are worth the money, they fit really well and it should take longer to get them out of the packaging than it does to fit it.

I have had two of the active holders and they are again a very good fit and hold the phone snugly. Yes they are just a bit of plastic but you can see some effort has gone into the production.

The clip in my car has been there at least 5 years and the holder is more than 2 years old without issue.

Fair enough - have just bought one of the clips and will try to attach my adjustable holder to it.

Thanks for the help all.

You screw the brodit holders into the clips, they are pretty strong.
