I've just been reading through my paperwork for my existing car finance. I bought the car on Hire Purchase and I'm looking to hand the car back mid term due to the fuel costs and other things. This isn't an issue but I've just found a term in the agreement that says I will only do 12000 miles a year and anything over will be charged at 15p a mile! I've never known this on a HP agreement!! I've done quite a bit more than that! Has anyone else encountered this? I was never told ab out this when I bought the car, otherwise I would have said no thanks!! I always thought PCP was the one with a mileage cap...

I think they got wise after people did a 5 year HP deal for lower payments. Then did mega milage in the first year or two and tried to hand the vehicle back...

I only want to hand it back because it does stupid MPG and it hasn't been the most reliable of cars. I'm miffed it wasn't mentioned when I bought it! Especially as I said I do 20k a year!!
