Phone holders

Featured Replies

Ok so,

Cars in stock (finally) and am going to order a bracket from Dashmount to hold a phone holder.

Before I do, anyone use anything I should see first?

Ta.

I use one of the old fashioned magnetic phone holders.

Modern phones have li-ion polyymer batteries nowadays

and won't stick to magnets.

Solution, Stanley blade superglued or taped to phone battery under it's cover = Job done.

No bulky mechanism to go wrong. no drilling and no hassle.

Just stick phone directly to it. And when it's not in use it's very inobtrusive,

Just an inch and a half square by less than half an inch thick with black rubber outer.

I've had the same phone holder in my last 4 cars. I just renew the double sided

foam tape on the back each time I move it to a different vehicle.

Wouldn't swap it for anything else.

This sort of thing.----> http://www.amazon.co.uk/Krusell-Strong-Magnetic-Holder-Quickmounter/dp/B000ORXUOM

You can select Vehicle specific holders >>>> HERE (I have entered device as an I Phone 4 just to get the options up).

You can choose from an A Pillar mount, A dash mount, or a centre console mount with any number of suitable holders.

They're not the cheapest by a country mile but I have Brodit holders in both my Roomster and Fabia and wouldn't use anything else. They're very sturdy and look almost OEM when fitted

I hope you don't take that phone through airport security :o

I prefer the brodit pro clips to the dashmount ones, they are easier to fit and don't require you to remove any bits of trim or screws.

I have a rubber skin for my iPhone and it fits great on the top of the cup holder cover.

Many times as it happens. Don't even give it a thought usually

when I travel.

The edge is ground off of it so its blunt anyway because I did anticipate

potential future problems with security and customs etc.

It's also well araldited to the battery so I'd have a job removing it

for anything dodgy. If customs ever kicked up a stink I'd just hand the

battery over and apologise profusely.

But genuinely it and the 3 phones before it (I've used this method for a while)

have been xrayed all over the world and not a peep from anybody.

I know what you're saying though

Brodit holders and Pro-Clips are great items, I have used them many times before on different cars and they have always been great.

The Magnet thing is a good idea to, mobile fun have them for about £3 and they come with 2 x metal disk's with a 3M pad on them to allow a couple of different phones to be used.

I wish they have put a 12V socket in the Jumbo box (or superb Equivalent) because then I could just leave the phone on charge in the glove box and let the head unit and maxidot do the rest. I may have to drop one in.

Why do you need a phone holder?

The phone controls are through the Maxidot. Am I missing the point?

I take my phone out of my pocket and place it on a non slip pad on the dashboard

I do this because I found the reception wasn't as good in my pocket.

But then I do live in hilly West Yorkshire!

I use a cheap little NOKIA 6300, which works perfectly for me. It is nice and small and is either left in my jacket pocket and thrown on the back seat or in the perfect holder for this phone in the sunglasses holder.

@Phil,

No. Not missing the point really, I just like to have it in view, texts, emails etc are all easier to deal with that way.

While stationary of course, traffic, lights, what have you.

tomtom iPhone holder at front bottom of the driver's door glass so I can still see all of the door mirror. Powered by a rechargeable laptop battery in the door pocket. Boosts the gps signal. Recharges the phone. Easy and safe to see texts and emails. Easier and safer to dial out on as I'm right handed and because it's high up. Obviously I'd never surf the net or play Hangman while driving, of course.
