Started to wrap my grille this afternoon, 1st attempt went well until I go to the final corner and managed to split the vinyl, so annoying.

2nd attempt is nowhere near as good, I just cant get the stuff on without having a crease somewhere.

To be frank, it's doing my :swear: head in!

Am i making a mistake by removing the whole backing sheet? Would I be better off just laying one side down then removing an inch or so of the backing sheet at a time?

Cheers.

Do what i did and get a pro to do it for you.

£25 inc the vinyl

did mine with the carbon with no problems,i just used a hair dryer when i came to the corners

Hot air and plenty of stretch. It won't work if it's not warmed up.

yeah maybe I aint heAting it enough then. Thing is, the more I stetch it, the more of a crease I end up with at the end.

Tbh I've had enough for today, got it on and folded the crese together and just sliced it off with a stanley knife. The join is notiiceable close up :(

Firstly I'd make sure you've not got normal vinyl and you definitely have "Wrapping Vinyl" - the former will not wrap around edges very readily, even with heat. Whereas the latter will become very malleable under heat. Too much heat and you'll know about it as it'll just split a hole in the material! Otherwise just stick it to a safe anchor point and heat whilst pulling ... it should stretch okay without needing to stress it into warping or creasing.

if in doubt give these guys a call - ask for Ollie. He is very helpful!

I hope this helps!

The way I done mine was to measure out about enough to cover it and about 3.5 inches around the sides too.

Place the cleaned chrome grill face down with no badge on onto the vinyl and roll it over so that it all sicks starting from the middle. working out to the edges.

get a mate or create a rig to hold the hair dryer so you have two hands to work with the vinyl.

It took me about 4 hours to get mine done last weekend and then pop the bubbles and its settled down nicely.

Take your time, and it'll be ok.

Actually alot more of a bugger that I thought to do.

The same happened to me, I also ended up with a lot of excess vinyl when I got to the last bit... I resorted to cutting it with the Stanley knife - removing a section and overlapping it slightly. It's barely noticeable to be fair.

I re-did it a couple of days ago and it was a lot easier. Defo have to get the heat right, and just be patient with it. I found that starting at one edge then stretching to the side ended up with loads of excess, but starting with getting all the corners down then working from the middle of each section towards the corners meant that I only had a little bit off excess in each corners, then plenty of heat on them to stretch them out.

More than happy with the results, the matt black looks great on silver, even my wife was impressed with it so it must be good!!

I did the sides of each foglight too, wanted to be a bit different to others that I've seen by leaving the actual surround.

Get some better pics up of the fogs please. ;)

Like I said, thought it would be a bt different to what else I've seen. Also considering doing the straight edge just under the fog to open up the "square" area around it.

Looks good. Opening up the square is a good idea. Will Defo be different, make sure you get some pics up when done.

Vinyl them to little lines to in the bottom gap. I painted mine black and looks much better.

Oh I like the Fogs :) Those look smart!

Did you do the black backgrounds on the fogs or just the silver bits? I thought it might be a good way to refresh the faded plastic back bits.

No, just the silver bits. Vinyl get sorts out the other bits, or some Meg's tyre dressing.
