Front Brake pad sensors

Featured Replies

I need a new front brake pad sensor wire, I have had a quick look around on websites and unable to see any listed for sale separately.

The reason why I need one was due to when we had the bad weather/snow this caused the wire to be ripped out of the plug, stuck in some heavy snow/ice. I have rewired the plug in the past but the light has come back on again and I thought I would look for a new sensor before trying to rewire.

The car model is a mk1 2002 vrs.

The sensors are part of the pad - replacing the pads gets you a new sensor.

If you don't want to bother with the brake pad warning, short out the wires. If it's the loom that's damaged and you really want to replace it, look out for someone on here who is breaking a car.

TPS at portmamoor ind est will sell the loom

Or I can out the light with VCDS for you if you like

is it the pad section or the loom that runs up the leg section?

Sorry I did not put all the info on the post as it was entered just before I finished for work for the day.

The pad sensor wiring was ripped out of the connection plug and it was the pad side and the male plug, I have shorted the pins on the female end of the plug very fiddly job to do and the light has come back on recently so I thought I would see if a new sensor could be purchased on its own.

RwBaldwin: I know that the senor is part of the brake pad :p and as they are still approx 75% life left on the pads, i don’t want to fit a new set as of yet, and with some makes of cars the sensor can be purchased on there own quite easily. But I have had no luck searching online.

Bond007: it is the only brake pad sensor (wiring and plug)that is needed, the loom/plug on the strut is all ok

fatty5000: I may take you up on the offer of the light being switched off with VCDS,

On these cars the 'sensor' is nothing more than a piece of foil embedded in the pad. As the pad wears down the foil is uncovered and is worn away until the circuit is broken.
