Daft question like but...........

Featured Replies

If you have a big switch in the middle of the dashboard with ESP written on it, does that mean the car has ESP fitted or that it just has the switch fitted but not the gubbins?

Also as an aside from the zenons/ESP thread, do you know that if you have a prang with zenons fitted, then your insurers (or certainly mine), will only fit (or pay for) standard replacements? Thieves in suits those insurance people, I tell ya!

Roll on Tuesday, got a one minute past midnight pick uo time

cheers

IF your vehicle is fitted with an ESP switch - then it SHOULD have ESP - easiest way to tell is to press switch - a warning light will come on dashboard.

As for insurance and xenons - they would have to replace like for like - otherwise they are "Modifying" the car and making it non-standard.

I've never heard of an insurance company doing anything like that.

Thanks for the ESP heads up.

As for the insurance thing, they are for real.

The ESP and xenons were on from the factory, so they would have to cover them. If not, then you would be better changing insurance...the parts for xenons can apparently run into thousands.

:thumbdwn: Never heard of such a silly insurance proviso ever. :(

If they insure your car for what it is, it should always be "replace like for like". :)

if you have extrtas like xenons, leather or what-not, you have to declare it to some insurers or they won't replace them - rip-oof I found out from the MINI forum where the cars cost

I declared everything with mine...ESP, cruise, Xenons and reversing sensors...didn't make a difference to the premium, but I like to keep things right where insurance is concerned.

They way they word it is that they will pay to replace a 'standard' item and anything (cost-wise) above and beyond that would be down to me. I did (sensibly) declare everything and the previous poster is correct, it doesn't affect the premium. However, that doesn't remove the proviso detailed above, that in the event of a large off, some of the cost of repair/replacment may have to come from the insured not the insurer.

I'm off to find an alternate insurer as we speak :finger: to the lot of em!

cheers
