Collected my Fabia 1.2 TSI DSG today!

Featured Replies

And so far loving it. I'm coming from a Lupo so the Fabia seems like an S class in comparison!

Acres of room, airy cabin, great boot, comfy ride, the lists goes on!

I'm going to France with it tomorrow, a tad worried about that as I've only had a day to get used to DSG (never drove an auto before, bar test drive!).

The DSG is a true revelation, it's such a relaxing drive combined with what seems excellent economy! I drove around town a good bit today and would have used about £3 worth of Petrol in the Lupo whereas in the Fabia the range never budged!

Will keep you updated regularly to see if my love the thing continues to grow!

welcome to briskoda, put some pics up of your motor, enjoy the fabia. where abouts in sheffield u from

Will do when I get back- I'm from Ecclesall. Setting off in an hour and I'm getting a load of abuse from the girlfriend for even finding the time to go on car forums before we set off for a long journey!!

Thanks for the welcome!

Make sure you have the forums on your iPhone/android for whilst your away :giggle:

Small update: made it to France!! All I can say is what a nice car to be in, and the economy is fantastic. I must easily have done over 50mpg.

Just a small brown trouser moment when I got muddled up with which side of the road I was on (....!!) and thinking "clutch down" I pressed the brake pedal as hard as I could. Resulting in a very nice emergency stop.

It's only my 2nd day driving an auto and I must admit I feel I've done well but I am still a tad scared until I proprely get used to driving on the right and an auto. By the time I get back to the UK, I'm sure I'll be very confident!

Oh and sadly "skody" has picked up a good few flies in his gob. Luckily, my Sainsbury's basics baby wipes help a lot, dab gently and they go away!

Glad your enjoying the car! (enjoy france too).

I'm sure it is a lot to get used to, driving on the wrong side of the road and not having a clutch pedal there if your used to one!

Drive safely! :)

Just noticed that 2 bolts under the passenger seats are rusty? If you open the door, you can see them clearly. The other side is fine!! Are yours ok?

Dunlops sports 01 in 195/55/15

To be honest I've found them to be extremely quiet and comfy. But then again I've come from having a few cars with 17's and 18's, so any 15" tyre would seem very quiet!!

Thanks for the reply.

I have the Fabia Hatch SE (1.2tsi&DSG) with 15 inch Antares alloy wheels and 195/55 R15 85H tyres - Bridgestone TURANZA ER300. I find the road noise/drumming in the car is uncomfortable - others have noticed it to. I didn't remember it on the test drive.

Mine was made week 24 so it must be that Skoda fit whatever tyres they have bought in bulk. Glad yours are quiet, I'm almost certainly going to change mine.

Glad you're getting used to the DSG, we found the gearbox to be as smooth as silk with no hesitation and virtually no perception of the automatic gear changes. We previously drove a Tiptronic Citreon C3 so were familiar with this type of gearbox but the DSG is 300% better.

To avoid the "clutch urge", tuck your left leg out of the way so your not tempted to use it and after a while, you'll forget you have need a left leg. Of course, if you get back in a manual, you will have a few stalls :notme: to remind you to get it out of retirement.

Have a great holiday

They are cleaner to be fair and people do seem to be more respectful and polite. Could just be a holiday thing!
