VCDS help (seat belt "hybrid"-chime)

Featured Replies

Hi

I have tried to search for this numerous times, but without any luck, so I hope this topic will help :o)

What I want to do is to turn of the seat belt chime, when I turn the ignition on but NOT the chime while driving. I can easily turn of the overall warning/chime, but I just guess it is smart to have a warning while driving - but it is not necessary to warn me before I drive.

Is this possible?

Best regards

Eh? It doesn't chime until you go over something like 15mph? At least it didn't on mine...

mine does beep initially when i turn on the car 3 or 4 times or until i plug my seatbelt in. I agree would be nice to have this off, but im not fortunate enough to have maxidot lol.

Thanks.

Well, when I enter the car and turn on the ignition, there is a warning that will stop after 4-5 chimes (same sound as the seat belt warning at speed). Then there is another warning when I go 10 kph or so and that is fine. Could it be another warning, I would be glad to hear about it and how it could be turned of?

Maybe the setup has been changed so. I've had mine disabled for ages, but I seem to remember you could manoeuvre at low speed with no chime, then when you pulled away and sped up it started chiming away?

That is exactly what I want but without the initial chime at ignition.

Best regards

Exactly what happens to mine, if stoped the chime stops, the seatbelt light doesnot flash, once driving it chimes.

Although mine is not anoying, i don´t think.

The seat belt chime is very annoying and I have often wondered what it would be like to turn it off. Howver I now use it to my advantage and wait until the third / fourth chime before firing up the engine. This gives the T-FSI engine time to prime the fuel lines and makes starting much easier. Sad I know, but in a way the chimes are helpful-ish !

So there are different options for different cars, but can it be turned of if it is like mine? Here I am talking about the chimes at ignition.

I'm not sure why you'd want one turned off but not the other? I find them both deeply offensive and patronising and had them both turned off.

Are you really likely to forget to put your seatbelt on and then have a quick head-slap moment when you're driving off as the car reminds you of it?
