Turbo Intercooler pipe keeps popping off!

Featured Replies

Hi all

My Turbo Intercooler pipe keeps popping off at high revs. Has anyone successfully replaced theirs with a pipe other than Skoda's overpriced version?

Thanks

Can't believe that finally managed to post on here, rather than lurk :D

If you're keeping with the standard pipes and I/C, then sadly oem is the only option.

Do a search for boost pipes and you'll see loads of threads on this, as it is a fairly common fault with remapped vRS'. You see plenty of pics of peoples fixes too, which may help.

Probably find the lugs are worn or damaged, not all the pipes are expensive though.

this is what happened to mine.. was quickly fixed by tech1e by a new boost pipe.. which only cost £33.

Which pipe is it as they are different prices

I replaced the main plastic pipe and the rubber elbow between it and the intercooler.

I'll be getting a stainless steel pipe made with bead rolled edges and cutting the metal rings off the ends of the lower pipe and the egr rubber elbow pipe and t-bolt clamping it inside the existing pipes. That'll solve the problems at either end of the plastic pipe because it won't be there.

If you don't want to go to the expense of new pipes, 4 self tapping screws at 90o apart on the join will stop it ever coming apart again

This has worked for me for the past 5000 miles. No problems at all now
