White smoke from the engine bay

Featured Replies

As title says just got back from my lunch break, was running late so gave it a proper ragging. The car seemed fine, probably the best its felt in a while if i'm being honest. Anyway I parked up and when I was walking into the building I noticed some white smoke coming through the front grille slats. Its a pretty warm day so i'm wondering if it could just be heat sink or something. I'll have a look before I drive home but don't have time to look at the moment. Is there anything specific I should look at that could cause it? Only thing I though was perhaps a boost leak though not had any of those in months since replacing the upper pipework. Correct me if i'm wrong but I think the turbo is blueish smoke so hoping its not that. Any suggestions??

Could be a slight water leak. Check level when its cooled down.

Will do cheers

Seconded; white vapour coming out the front of the engine bay when the engine's off is usually steam. It may indicate that the car is "after-boiling"; I dunno if the Furbie vRS is prone to that though.

I've never heard of "after boiling" before, what exactly does that mean?

Some one had this a few weeks ago. Think most people thought it was the pressure cap on the coolent bottle venting.

I think this is what it mostly likely is, checked the car over after work, nothing out of the ordinary and it drove fine home. I'll keep an eye on the temp gauge for a few days though
