Audi Lower front Brace...Still no joy!

Featured Replies

Tried and tried again............These expanding fittings, they are a lose fit on my vRS........Is that right?

Managed to get one in and expand it, but still too much clearance........i suspect that somewhere along the line the spec has been changed!

Does anyone have the part number for the expanding nut thing?

Cheers

Mike

"N 909 147 01 Insert Nut x 2"

I wonder IF there is two types?

I milled a couple of Flats on the item so i could fit a spanner, this worked and i did get the bolt to expand......but it STILL fell out!

Much Thinking to be done here.

Cheers

Suppose you expect someone to come around and fit it for you aswell eh?

No, i have an engineering shop and i am an Engineer, thus fitting the RIGHT parts are not a problem. It only becomes a problem when you get told half truths or half facts.

Well i would have thought having your own engineering shop would mean you could have adapted and over come.

I milled two flats on each expanding fitting so that i could hold it with a spanner. This Worked, however even with the bolt fully expanded it still just dropped out the hole.

If given the Wrong items and little or misleading info given than yes, you do have troubles. Will ring Audi on Monday and source replacment items.

Almost everyone else seems to have managed ok.

Mike, with respect any advice posted here is free & without any guarantee, it is entirely your choice, and at your own risk if you decide to follow it or not.

Accusing people of giving "misleading info" is out of order IMHO.

Myself and several others have posted info & part numbers on Briskoda, and have managed to fit the brace.

Look on Cupra sport, they recon 10min job tops, use a ramp and jack hey presto straight on, maybe your over engineering the task.

They don't fit, they are simply too lose. Even with flats milled on the lip to allow me to put a spanner on they will not expand enough. IF i was writing on the BB I would offer up this knowege and issue a strong warning!

In short nobody would be left in any doult that the bolts that come with the kit don't work. I must wonder about "Other" modds discussed on this BB as well.

Oh dear!!

Mind you I always tend to blame the wife when anything goes wrong on the car, well anybody really as long as it's not me. :D

Dude, you posted a problem and within half an hour someone who went through the same thing suggested a solution. I'd say that's good not bad. Big up Briskoda :)

Hope the new bolts will work, they are like 60p I think. Let us know if they don't ?

Cheers Pete

Sadly it will take about 5 weeks to beat them out of Audi.

VAG Parts have let me down time and time again, frankly i don't trust them to get the right parts!

I can see a lot of going to dealerships to sort this one.
