TMC Tuning Box

Featured Replies

one reason all cars leave the factory not running at max bhp is due to slight variables. every single engine will run slightly different. one more lean than the other etc. etc.

so what about this as a scenario.

the box was produced on an engine that ran at extremely rich compared to other same type engines.

the box is placed on a car which runs extremely lean compared to others of the same type.

lack of fuel melting pistons perhaps ?? only positive i can see is having a reason to give the mrs allowing you to rebuild with stronger components.

and tbh i know they offer a 3 year guarantee but they aint guna fork out a few grand to rebuild your engine. theyll be some loop hole somewhere in some small print.

custom maps is by far the safest route if mapping.

I have been readin reviews for these on Audi / fiat and they rave em. These arnt the old school piggy back boxes more like a map in a box that plugs directly into the sensors that are modified by a remap. I'm very interested as it is easily removed without trace. The parameters changed are well within tolerance.

Shark if you get post a full review

So is anyone else thinking..

Stage 2 vRS and one of these?

agreed, after having the fiat for 3 years, i know them well from the forums too, and they are good, within tolerances, and undetcable (although with all the drawback si mention) if you just want a bit more power , and a warrenty.....

I'll post up if I go for it...

I've been in touch with TMC and will be ordering a box when the Fabia looms come in. I'll report back.

105PS / 175nm to 125ps / 225nm and up to -10% fuel, if you can resist the temptation to use the extra performance!

Looking forward to the results

hi,

In norway, all Skoda, Audi and Vw have 5 years waranty or 100.000 KM, either come first.

I have newly bought a Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 105 HK and thinking of bying a tuning box like this.

Would the tuning box leave any kind of trace? like, if the engine breaks because im jusing the tuning box, i can get a new engine or get it fixed without the mecanics knowing that the tuning box was the reason the engine broke down and i get get a new engine on waranty?

Regards

you are running the risk but i dont see how theyd be able to check. especially if you took the box out and put it all back to normal...

i would ofcourse take the tuning box out when taking it to service and/or if the engine breaks down.

Ok then,

so you break down on the side of the road. You think maybe i should call the Skoda recovery service since im under warranty. But first you must remove the TMC tuning box, which isnt just a case of unplugging. So you'll need all the screw drivers/star drives etc to remove the intake duct etc to reach the plugs. From the side of that busy carriageway etc....

I kow alot of guys do this as its easy to fool the insurance as well, however you'll look pretty stupid if you crash it on the front end as you wont be opening the bonnet easily to remove it then

Your are right! Thanks

im not saying dont do it, but if your worried about the warranty then IMO dont fettle with the car,

i made the conscious decision to do all my remap, tuning etc before id even bought the car, so i was happy that the warranty for engine and drive train was void.
