thermisto wheel cleaner

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Can anyone recommend a great wheel cleaner for my new wheels please? I'm scared to touch them with anything other than luke warm water, a sponge and a soft toothbrush (as they are polished and not painted????) but I don't think after the first wash its cleaned them very well. Is it wise to wax them with something afterwards also?

Many thanks in advance.

Remove wheels from vehicle. Hose off wheels well, spray with AG Acidfree Wheel Cleaner as per instructions, ( never use a wheel cleaner that contains acid , these will ruin your wheels ) use soft wheel cleaning brush for outsides, a sponge for insides, clean off any tar with AG Tar Remover. wash again with clean water and dry.

I Use Prima Wheel Armour, there are so many wheel protection products and we all have our own preferences.I use this now as it has worked for me well, on my last three Superbs, lasts very well and I rarely need more that a good hose off to remove road and brake dust, I use an EZ Detail Wheel Brush, designed for motor cycle wheels but they are ideal for car wheels as they are very soft, tar will usually come off using a wheel brush and shampoo. You will find that the inside of the wheels are not polished smooth but if you clean off all dirt and protect, using the brush will completely clean this part of the wheel every wash. You should only need to remove wheels a couple of times a year.

Wolfs Chemicals Brake Duster

The best ive ever used!!

Autoglym is good, but not as good as Wolfs

I have to say the best ever wheel cleaner I have used is Uniparts road traffic film cleaner. It's harsh stuff, which is the downside about it but if you want a really clean wheel then that will do the job.

Decided to go with your recommendations guys!

Bought an EZ detail brush and Wolf's Chemical brake buster

Fingers crossed it brings them up clean!

Just a reminder - some bits are Tar and wont be fremoved by wolfs, so you may need to get your hands on some tardis to get them truely clean.

I used wolfs for the first time today... Wow! Did a fantastic job. I still have some tar spots as my wheels were a bit of a mess but most have come out with a bit of clay. Would deffo recommend wolfs brake duster, think I paid £10 delivered for a litre. Only downside is it can't be diluted so won't last long, but great for a thorough clean every so often if you keep on top of them (oh and it STINKS!).
