Does anyone run standard air intake & filter with remap?

Featured Replies

I'm currently running the usual 165bhp map with standard air delivery set up. (Pd130 intake, paper filter)

Is anyone else doing this or should free up some air?

I'm doing this and have been doing for the last 4000 miles. Not noticed any problems so far but not given it much thought. That doesn't mean to say I havn't been looking out for an elusive, cheap pd160 intake but aren't we all?

What made you ask are you getting a lot of smoke?

Running a map and that setup is fine.

yes i run a similar remap but I thought if you try to free up more air using a bigger intake and a "performance" filter you would need a custom remap and ideally tuned on a rolling road to get it right.

Joe, smoke is fine, obviously a bit more than usual because of map but more to do with performance, as the cupra 160, golf GT tdi 170 & the Audi s-line 2.0 tdi 170 all run bigger intake nozzles etc but all run pretty much the same size panel filter???

I can understand paper filters are safer on not letting c r a p pass but the bigger intake pipes prove they need more air.

I've got a standard PD130 air intake setup and remap. I think the performance filters have been proven to not really be worth the money, but I'd get a PD160 if one came up cheap enough.

Join the queue or battle to snatch the next cheap one to come along. Lol

I run a standard setup on a remap have done for nearly 20k not a problem

Thanks for reply's!!

Standard set up it is

I have a bigger turbo and will be running high flow injectors in the future, with a custom map.

I've got the PD160 Air intake, but will run with a standard filter.

For the sake of 1bhp loss, I will keep my filtration proeprties thankyuo.
