1.2 TSI vibrating at 75+ mph?

Featured Replies

Just wanted to double check all is well. I've mostly kept to 70 (110km/h) in France as at 80 (130km/h) the car seems very twitchy and feels as though after 70 mph it's had enough. It shakes/vibrates through the steering wheel.

I've put it down to the fact that at the end of the day it's a 1.2- so does well to be fair!

Front wheels will be out of balance, or a tyre is out of shape, engine size does not matter the car has a far greater top speed and even at that speed should be shake free.

+1

+1+1 on that. Should be smooth as silk.

I concur. I did my first long motorway run today and it cruised quite happily at (ahem) more than 70.

BTW I had a similar problem years ago in my old Capri, though at low speeds. It felt like all the world like the engine was missing, and I spent a fortune having it tuned. Even had a new carb on it. After weeks of investigation the garage finally found a tyre gone out of shape.

Thanks all, picked the car up from a main dealer less than 2 weeks ago. Why did I know that their PDI consisted of a poor valet (loads of wax were left on it) and a quick vac??
