I am not a particularly active forum type in the general sense - but the introduction bit seems appropriate.

Bought a Skoda Superb TDI last week and have found it to be just the job for my purposes. At the present moment I have not broken anything - this will likely change over time and when it does I hope I can find some help from the good people here.

I settled for a Comfort trim after about a year searching for an Elegance, alas my prerequisites for budget and mileage always seemed to rule out the better model. I live in Ireland and there does not seem to be as many Elegnace models available here as there are in the UK. Bringing one in from there would have been an idea - but to those that are not aware, our country implements a tax on imported cars called VRT which is effective as a protectionist tariff for the Irish Motor Industry.

You can't even find out how the theoretical selling price of the car is calculated (from whence the tax is derived) as it has been exempted from the Freedom of Information Act.

Anyway whinge over - the Comfort I found is quite a nice version thereof and I am a happy chap on the whole.
