Greetings everyone. I treated myself to a 2007 Fabia Vrs yesterday - cheap too at less than £5k but slightly high miles and a rip in the driver's seat. Otherwise in great condition with FSH, new tyres and MOT, and peace of mind because I bought it from a garage.

A few thoughts:

I believe these use special oil but I'm not sure if that's due to the PD engine or the service interval. I plan on changing the oil every 5,000 miles. Can I use normal turbo diesel 10/40? I assume the real stuff is expensive.

I would be interested in a mild power upgrade and wonder what the best route is? i don't want to spend much money or lose reliability. Can the ecu be re-mapped or do I have to have a new one fitted? Is there anything else i could or should do? What sort of power could I expect from some simple tweaking?

Does anyone have a drivers seat or covers they would sell me?

And is there anything I should be doing to the car, watching out for etc?

My 77 year old mother has a 2005 Vrs, bought new and now with about 25k on the clock!

Cheers,

Jonathan

Greetings Jonathan. On the oil issue I'd only use the recommended oil. I do my own servicing and I choose my oil by visiting the Castrol web-site. If you type in your registration number they will tell you which engine you have and which oil to use. Sometimes they give you a cheaper option. Then I'd cross-check their recomendation with the car's handbook.

You should be able to source a replacement seat from a scrapyard. Hope this helps. Cheers, Carloski
