My new 2.0tdi 140bhp Skoda Superb Combi

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Picked up the new car last week, initial thoughts are fantastic car.

Just thought i'd say how happy I am with the 140bhp engine set up too, I had some minor reservations about whether to go for 140 or 170, but never feel the need to floor it, (specially while running it in). If your want VRS performance, get a VRS, otherwise practicality and economy are the way forward, the handling doesnt really change whichever one you go for, so it matters not since you will not beat anyone round the twisties. Must say ride is firm, and it never feels troubled in the corners but it may be down to tightness and large wheels that are fitted as standard.

I personally wouldnt see myself ever doing over 100mph in this car. So the top speeed difference of 8mph to 170 is irrelevant. Also the 1 sec to 60mph is nothing 9secs to 10secs, as I would look a fool doing traffic light GrandPrix's in a car this size. What matters is MPG, every day I will see 3-4mpg more than the 170bhp equivalent. Over the life of the car, it will add up to quite a considerable sum. Its more than powerful enough at just 140bhp, the torque curve is perfect, the CR is a different best to the PD, and you need to allow the revs in and to build, but compared to a 2.0 petrol its brilliant. Plenty of Go and Torque. I think it makes for a more pleasurable experience for passengers compared to the PD.

Its amazing how the speed just picks up, its not very punchy, but when you look at the speedo your normally very surprised. When I had 3 large adults in the car, it never felt any different to just me being in there, so load it up, and soak up the miles, this car will not disappoint.

Everything about this car is pretty much amazing, and will be looking forward to many holidays and trips away in it!... :-)

You sound pleased with it emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Another happy owner

Just the job then?

I've got a 140 Diesel Combi on order and really can't wait. I think it will be a huge difference over my current 1.9 TDi Octy II. In fact I have a 2.0 Audi A4 at the moment and the difference is very noticeable.

Glad you like it, enjoy it!

I love it guys, Love the spec too... Elegance, and as much as there was a lot of options I didn't tick, I dont actually feel like the car is MISSING anything!

There are a few tell tale signs like blank buttons around the gear knob. But other than THAT... lol.

There is 7 digits on the post code entry.

Umbrella is on its way, along with a sat nav disk!

The speakers are fine without the upgrade. Im not 17 anymore and dont need to destroy my ears at all.

The bluetooth works fine on my ZTE blade (perfectly) in fact.

My GF complained about no clock as a passenger in the front... soon fixed that after ticking an option on the columbus system, clock now permanently displayed (after a 3 sec delay when you change features lol).

I dont need a MDI as I havent got an iphone or anything id like to play my music off, in fact why bother when you have bluetooth or even a HDD or SD card readers!! Even the CD player reads MP3s for tunes you need to burn to a disc quickly if SD card is not to hand and DVDs for movies is a bonus, not sure when ill use it but might consider a external screen for the little one in the back for longer journeys.

Not sure where to plug into thou, for the screen!!!

Really happy about the lighting situation, it seems they have really thought about it, without going LED mad!

Xenons yet to be fully exploited, as night driving is rare but sometimes scary with the headlights ive had before. But they look ace!

Cornering lights already had the missus questioning why only one was on lol.

The leather could be a little more upmarket and so could the carpet, but id still have them over cloth as they are wipe clean, but I will be ordering some luxury mats from an external supplier.

The steering wheel controls all work, and are just in the right place.

Voice control impressed the little one.

Havent figures out coming home, leaving home yet, but sure it will become aparent later on. Maybe even when its dark and they are needed lol.

Love the parking ticket holder, hooks in the boot, full size spare, and the cubbys and SPACE IN THE BACK. Plus rear footwell lighting... that makes people in the back feel special.

Love the lights under the mirrors externally to light up the way to the car...

The arm wrest is lovely and soft and confortable.

Love the lights in the doors for safety and convenience, for puddles dropped items and the like!

Love the MAXI Dot... amazing and its integration with the rest of the features of the car! Its makes it very manageable!

Overall this car is pretty much amazing. And looks the business in black too!! :-)

XENONS WOW...

They are amazing too, directional, they literally show you the way to go, god knows how they work but they are incredible!

So So happy with this car now! Really makes driving a pleasure!

Also got the coming home/ leaving home sorted too. I think its just a light sensor, or maybe its becuase i put lights into AUTO mode!
