hi, have only had my octy a week and already summat gone wrong, hope this isnt a sign of things to come!!! basically my thermoswitch has gone,(****ed out all the coolant on the m60!! was stuck there for over an hour waiting for a 'master bodger' to temp fix) am getting qouted 30 quid, but have been told to try a scrap yard, only thing is, there doesnt seem to be any octys in any of them!! (good sign maybe??) could i get one out of a golf or audi or something? have been told that the engines (1.9tdi by the way) are the same, as skoda/audi/vw are all one and the same company, even been told that some ford/seat engines are the same too, is that true.

thanks in advance for any replies, thanks

£30 quid sounds about right for the thermostat switch best bet is to get it fitted by a dealer at least you will have a warranty with it as for finding reliable parts in a scrap yard they are out there and good luck with that line of thought however will it be a reliable part? will it work as it should? you pays your money and takes a chance and yes Skoda Audi WV are all owned by the same parent company each engine has its own tweaks depending on model so you are partly right on that
