VRS LE Front Wheels "buckled"

Featured Replies

Got new tyres today and were told the two front wheels have buckled. I have a feeling I've read something on here before about the wheels on the Limited Edition buckling (they're lighter, right?) but can't find the topic - maybe there are a few. What are people's experiences of this particular fault - design fault perhaps? And generally what has it been caused by? We're guessing potholes - they're particularly bad here. Any advice/experiences would be appreciated!

Does your council have a pot hole reporting system? Have you tried making a claim with the council against a particularly bad one?

It's not just Skodas, had a 2008 XKR in the other day with 20" wheels , the left hand front one had a kink in the inner rim. The 30 profile tyres don't seem to absorb any shock and transmit it to the wheel.

You can get most dents and flat edge buckles fixed by an alloy wheel refurbisher, although if it is also cracked I wouldn't risk it for safety reasons. However, the LE wheels are cheapo alloys so a refurb may not be cost effective - skoda dealers will charge around £150 inc vat to supply a new one, but you can save yourself a few quid by getting a new single one (as opposed to a dset of 4 that most wheel dealers sell) here for £126 inc vat and delivery - LE wheels - although if you need two new ones you may want to spend a bit more and get a new set of different alloys that should hopefully be a bit stronger...
