Blowing hot and cold!

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a 2005 2.0tdi DSG L&K. I thought last week the air con was on the blink but looking at it today I've discovered that the drivers side door vent is blowing out cold air, but the middle and pass side door vent are luke warm. Both dual zone dials are set the same (lo). I'm guessing that a flap somewhere on the climate module is stuck so it's blowing both hot and cold through the pass and middle vents. Has anyone seen this before and if so what am I looking for as I don't know where to start.

Cheers,

Greg

Take your centre vents and storage tray out, as well as your radio. Behind there somewhere are two temperature sensors that go into the pipes that lead to the vents - check that they are both in place still as one of mine fell out and I had differing temperatures each side.

If you can get to someone with VCDS they will be able to see any fault codes logged for sticking flaps and motors, as well as see what temperatures the system thinks it has on each side.

It does sound like you have a flap stuck though, most of them are behind the radio.
