1st service and theres a problem!

Featured Replies

Well took my vrs in for its first service today and asked them to investigate an ever worsening chirp everytime the supercharger clutch kicks in. I thought it was the belt slipping, turns out its the clutch itself and requires a whole new supercharger!

eeep!

At least it's under warranty, I can imagine that would be an expensive item to get replaced.

Ouch

Here we go!, more problems with this set-up wonders why they are dropping it for the 1.6 tfsi engineemoticon-0112-wondering.gif, so sorry you've had a problem

At least it's under warranty. Hopefully it's a fairly quick fix and you can get your car back as soon as. Any idea how long it will take to do?

And as it keeps getting brought up that this engine is being replaced (sounding like a stuck record tbh), It's been out since about 2005 and ALL engines have faults and any component could fail at any time. Just look at the coil packs on the 1.8T engine. A lot of the time with cars it's luck of the draw. You can be really careful with it and something can still go wrong. I know people like me who let a turbo engined car warm up before booting it and cool down properly after a run and still have turbos go. I also know people who don't know any different and will hammer a car off cold and won't let it cool down but never had a problem.

Sorry for the issues, at least the warranty is there to pick it up.

Hopefully an isolated problem.

Feel for you not good :doh:emoticon-0106-crying.gif but you have the warranty to pick up the bill thank god :) i would not like that bill

hope you get your car back soon

Ooops just noticed a simular sound from mine the past couple of days. put your foot down at low revs and for a instent theres a sound like a fan belt slipping and a bit of lag then you get the kick as some boost comes in. Looks like a trip to the dealers.

Mine only happens in the wet so thought it could be a belt.

Having just been away for the weekend with a VW tech and talking about the 1.4 TSI, common faults are piston cracking, injector faults, stretched timing chains, dropped valves, turbo/ s/charger diverter valve faults....

7 speed DSG seems ok though.

The injector faults I heard about on early Boca's and turbo/supercharger faults have been mentioned but cracking pistons and dropped valves is new to me. Last time I heard of a car dropping a valve was someone had an old Astra diesel and pushed it too hard off cold.
